USDCAD Rejected at 1.4300: Bearish Momentum Puts 1.3930 in Focus

USDCAD has turned sharply lower after another failed attempt to break through the 1.4280–1.4300 resistance region. The rejection is visible on both the daily and weekly charts, while momentum indicators are beginning to roll over after the latest rally. With price now testing 1.4080, a confirmed break below this level could extend the correction toward 1.4000 and 1.3930.

USDCAD Daily Chart Analysis

On the daily chart, USDCAD rallied strongly from the August lows and eventually returned to the 1.4280–1.4300 region, where price met the rising resistance trendline connecting several major swing highs.

The reaction has been decisive.

After spending several sessions testing the upper boundary, buyers failed to produce a breakout and USDCAD reversed sharply. The latest move includes a large bearish candle away from resistance, pushing price back toward the 1.4080 area. The size and direction of the candle are notable because there is little evidence of buying pressure inside the session — sellers have taken control quickly after the failed breakout attempt.

This rejection also resembles the previous reaction from the same rising resistance structure. Earlier tests of the trendline were followed by meaningful corrections, which makes the latest failure around 1.4300 technically significant.

Momentum indicators are now confirming the loss of bullish pressure.

The MACD (12,26,9) remains above the zero line, reflecting the strength of the preceding rally, but its internal structure has turned bearish. The MACD reading has dropped to approximately 0.00454, below the signal value near 0.00759, while the positive histogram has contracted significantly. This indicates that bullish momentum is fading even though the broader indicator remains in positive territory.

The Momentum (14) indicator sends an even clearer short-term signal. It has fallen to approximately 99.30, slipping below the neutral 100 level after previously reaching above 103. This move confirms that price momentum has shifted in favour of sellers.

The immediate level to watch is 1.4080. A sustained daily break below this support would strengthen the bearish correction and expose the psychological 1.4000 level.

Below 1.4000, the next important objective is 1.3930, which previously acted as a significant reaction zone and represents the main downside target marked on the current structure.

Key Levels:

  • 1.4280–1.4300: Major resistance and rising trendline rejection zone.
  • 1.4080: Immediate support and the key level for bearish continuation.
  • 1.4000: Psychological support and secondary downside target.
  • 1.3930: Main bearish objective if the correction extends.

USDCAD Weekly Chart Analysis

The weekly chart reinforces the bearish setup.

USDCAD recently returned to the same rising resistance trendline that has contained several major advances since 2025. The latest rally briefly pushed price toward the 1.4300 area but once again failed to establish a breakout above the trendline.

The rejection has already produced a sizeable bearish weekly candle, with price retreating toward 1.4080. This is particularly important because the reversal is occurring directly from a higher-timeframe resistance structure rather than from an isolated short-term level.

The Williams %R (14) also reflects the change in momentum. The indicator had recently climbed into the overbought region near the upper end of its range, but has since turned lower and now stands around -36.96.

This retreat from overbought conditions indicates that the strong buying pressure behind the September rally is losing momentum. Williams %R is not yet oversold, meaning there is still room for the correction to develop if sellers maintain control.

The weekly structure therefore places considerable importance on 1.4080. A confirmed move beneath this level would expose 1.4000, followed by the stronger horizontal support around 1.3930.

USDCAD Bearish Continuation Scenario

The daily and weekly charts are now sending a similar message.

USDCAD has been rejected from a major rising resistance line near 1.4300, the daily MACD has weakened and moved below its signal line, Momentum has fallen beneath 100, and weekly Williams %R is retreating from overbought territory.

Price now needs to confirm the signal.

A sustained break below 1.4080 would strengthen the bearish setup and bring 1.4000 into focus. If that level fails to attract sufficient buying interest, the correction could extend toward 1.3930, the main downside objective.

For now, the rejection from 1.4300 has shifted the balance back toward sellers, and 1.4080 is the key level separating a temporary pullback from a deeper bearish correction.

Bearish path: 1.4080 breakdown → 1.4000 → 1.3930.
