SP500: 8,150 comes into focus

The S&P 500 is pressing against a major resistance barrier after several weeks of consolidation near record highs. The broader trend remains firmly bullish, while the daily structure is tightening beneath 7,800. A confirmed breakout above this level could open the next leg higher toward 8,150, a target that is also supported by the weekly Fibonacci extension.

SP500 Daily Chart Analysis

On the daily chart, the S&P 500 remains firmly embedded in its broader uptrend. After the sharp recovery from the March low, the index advanced toward the 7,800 region before shifting into consolidation.

The latest price action has developed into a clear ascending triangle structure. Resistance around 7,800 has repeatedly capped upside attempts, while the sequence of higher lows has created a rising support line underneath price. This combination shows buyers becoming increasingly aggressive on pullbacks while sellers continue to defend the same resistance area.

The structure is particularly constructive because the recent corrections have become progressively shallower. Each decline toward the rising trendline has attracted fresh demand, and price has now returned to the upper boundary of the pattern once again.

The Fractals indicator supports this interpretation. Recent lower fractals have formed progressively higher along the rising trendline, highlighting the sequence of higher swing lows. At the same time, several upper fractals have appeared around the 7,800 region, clearly identifying this area as the key breakout barrier. The clustering of fractal highs near the same resistance, combined with rising fractal lows, reflects the ongoing compression in price.

Recent candles also show relatively limited selling pressure near the upper boundary. Rather than producing a strong bearish reversal from 7,800, the market has continued to hold close to resistance. The latest bullish candles are once again pressing into the top of the range, suggesting that buyers remain willing to absorb supply at these levels.

A decisive daily close above 7,800 would therefore represent an important technical breakout. Such a move would complete the ascending triangle structure and shift attention toward the next major objective at 8,150.

Key Levels:

  • 7,650–7,700: Rising trendline support and the immediate area maintaining the bullish daily structure.
  • 7,800: Major resistance and the key breakout level.
  • 8,150: Primary upside target following a confirmed breakout above 7,800.

SP500 Weekly Chart Analysis

The weekly chart provides an even stronger bullish backdrop.

The long-term structure remains clearly upward, with the index continuing to form higher highs and higher lows. Following the sharp correction toward the 6,350 region earlier in the year, buyers regained control quickly and drove the market through successive resistance levels.

The Fibonacci extension highlights how closely the current price action is following this bullish progression. The 100.0% level near 7,020 was cleared during the initial advance, while the 161.8% extension around 7,457 subsequently acted as an important reference area before the market pushed higher.

Price is now consolidating directly beneath 7,800, with the next major Fibonacci objective located at the 261.8% extension around 8,150. This makes 8,150 particularly significant, as the level is not simply a visual upside target on the daily chart but is also confirmed by the higher-timeframe Fibonacci structure.

The weekly candles reinforce the bullish bias. Following the strong advance above the 161.8% extension, price has spent several weeks consolidating close to the highs rather than retracing sharply. The relatively compact candle bodies around the current range point to consolidation and momentum compression, with no clear evidence of aggressive distribution at this stage.

The Bulls Power (13) indicator also remains above the zero line, currently showing a positive reading. This confirms that buyers continue to hold the broader advantage on the weekly timeframe. Although the histogram has eased from its previous peak, it remains firmly positive, suggesting that bullish pressure has moderated during the consolidation rather than reversed.

This distinction is important: momentum has cooled as the market pauses below resistance, but the indicator has not shifted into bearish territory. Combined with the higher-timeframe trend and the price structure near the highs, the broader technical picture continues to favour an upside resolution.

SP500 Bullish Scenario

The daily and weekly charts are currently aligned.

On the daily timeframe, the S&P 500 is compressing beneath 7,800 inside an ascending triangle, while the Fractals indicator confirms a pattern of rising swing lows against a fixed resistance ceiling. On the weekly chart, the long-term uptrend remains intact, Bulls Power stays positive, and the Fibonacci extension identifies 8,150 as the next major technical objective.

A sustained breakout and daily close above 7,800 would provide the confirmation buyers are looking for. If the market establishes itself above this level, the bullish structure would favour an extension toward the 8,150 region, corresponding with the weekly 261.8% Fibonacci extension.

Bullish targets: 7,800 → 8,150.
